Daddy's Doodie Apron

A couple of weeks ago, Betsy flew to St. Louis for a baby shower with her mom's side of the family. Always a good time, all the girls were WAY too good to us.

Not only were there lots of gifts for Baby Douglass, but Bill Douglass also got a gift...his very own Doodie Apron. As the saying goes.....

"This Apron is especially made for the daddy-to-be. To be slipped on when "doodie" calls, you see.

The goggles adn mask will protect you from untimely squirts. The corks can fill your ears if the noise starts to hurt.

Rubber gloves and tongs will assist you of disposing of junior's gift. Wipes and powder will help, if you still get a wiff.

Practice makes perfect, so keep trying eacch day. To do Daddy's duty in your own special way."

Here are some other photos from the shower.

Cousin Ann and her baby Bump - she's due about a month after Betsy

10 Weeks and Counting.....

We can't believe it. Where have the have the last 30 weeks gone? It seems like just yesterday we were headed to the doctor's office to confirm we were "with child."

2 weeks ago we had our 28-week appointment and all is going well. Betsy's baby bump is definitely growing and she's starting to get a bit uncomfortable doing certain activities. But, luckily, once she gets comfortable in bed, she sleeps most of the night!

Here are a couple of pictures of the growing baby.

Our Doctor

In case you'd like to see what our doctor looks like - here you go. Her name is Dr. Ridnour. Betsy's been seeing Dr. Ridnour since she moved to Colorado Springs in 2001. So far we've been very happy with her. We think she was a little weirded out when we asked to take a picture with her at our last visit.

We're now on week 27 and can't believe we're almost in the final leg of this adventure. Our next doctor's appointment in the first week of August. At the next few appointments, we're meeting some of the other doctor's who work with Dr. Ridnour, in case we happen to go into labor and she's not available, we will have at least met the doctor who may be on call.

The Magic 8 Ball

We've started to notice that Baby Douglass moves around a lot during certain activities. Does that mean that Baby Douglass likes to listen to Jeopardy or Taylor Swift...or does that mean that Baby Douglass is asking us to stop those activities...who knows. So, this morning, we decided to turn the "Baby Bump" into a Magic 8 Ball.

As the sonogram technician was not able to see the gender of the baby, we asked Baby Douglass to kick to let us know if he/she liked the names we picked out for a boy and a girl.

***Now don't get too excited. We're not sharing names until Baby Douglass is born***

But, we did ask both names and Baby Douglass kicked at the girls name. To us, this means one of several things:
1. Baby Douglass is a girl.
2. Baby Douglass is a feminine boy.
3. Baby Douglass is a boy and is super interested in girls (just like his daddy).

Below are a series of photos that we've taken over the past couple of months since Betsy's baby bump has started to show. We never remember to take pictures when Betsy is dressed and ready to go - it always seems to be when she's just gotten done working out or out of the shower. Anywho.....enjoy.

Week 23 - Sonogram Time

Check out our perfect little baby. Baby Douglass weighs about 1 lb. 4 oz (we think that is what the technician said!). As far as we know, there are five fingers on each hand and five toes on each foot. Baby Douglass looks healthy with a beating heart of around 142 bpm. Seeing the baby move its arms and legs and open its mouth reminded both of us how special this time is in our life.

Baby Update - Week 21

We can't believe week 20 has come and gone. We're half way there!!! Yay.

We went to the doctor today and nothing but good news. Betsy has gained a comfortable 13 pounds since her first visit. Baby Douglass' heartbeat is nice and strong in the 150s. And, the baby is moving. Last week as we were getting ready for bed, Betsy felt the baby move - a stronger movement than normal. She had Bill put his hand on her stomach and he felt it too for the first time. Very exciting. Baby Douglass is moving around quite a bit - more and more in the evenings.

Next visit to the doctor - June 22nd for an Ultrasound.
