The last month...the home stretch

So after Betsy's last baby shower, we decided to go to Babies R Us to get the remainder of things from our registry. We got a coupon in the mail that would give us 10% off of the remaining stuff. While we were there, we also decided to buy a glider/recliner for the nursery. If we bought it that day, the matching ottoman/nursing stool would be free. To get an additional 10% off of it, we decided to add it to the registry before we checked out. They didn't have the chair and ottoman in stock so we had to order it. When we were checking out, the girl working the register was having some issues applying our discounts. First she couldn't get the ottoman to register as free. Once she fixed that, she couldn't get the 10% discount applied to the chair. A manager came over and told us to go to her register to fix the problem. It was at that point that Betsy realized that she had failed to use any of our gift cards when she paid. So she played her "pregnancy brain" card and asked the manager to void the whole transaction so we could pay for a good chunk of the stuff with the gift cards we had received. Right about then, Bill noticed a 20% off coupon on the bottom of the shopping cart under all of our stuff. So, we then had to ask the manager not to apply the original coupon to the furniture, but instead apply the new coupon. The ladies were so nice, and we felt so bad for the hassle we caused that Betsy offered to make the ladies cookies. Bill will drop them off tomorrow. Long story short though, we got a lot of stuff and saved a bundle on it.

Baby Photos

A couple of weeks ago, Betsy was at her MOMs swimming class and one of the other moms had brought photos from her 3D Sonogram. For whatever reason, Betsy started to feel the need to also get one done. So, last weekend, we went and had our own 3D session. It was so amazing to see the face of Baby Douglass - knowing that in another 7 weeks, he/she will look completely different. Here are some photos from the session - we were probalbly about a week or two too late in getting these pictures taken as we have a feeling that Baby Douglass is pretty squished inside of there.

Baby Douglass had his/her feet and hands in front of it's face for quite a few of the photos....hence the reason som]e of them look like alien limbs. But we did get to see the baby yawn and open his/her eyes....very exciting. Also, you can see the umbilical cord in some of the photos. You can go to our photo share site to see all of the 3d images. We'll share video from the sonogram session as soon as we can get it edited.

Daddy's Doodie Apron

A couple of weeks ago, Betsy flew to St. Louis for a baby shower with her mom's side of the family. Always a good time, all the girls were WAY too good to us.

Not only were there lots of gifts for Baby Douglass, but Bill Douglass also got a gift...his very own Doodie Apron. As the saying goes.....

"This Apron is especially made for the daddy-to-be. To be slipped on when "doodie" calls, you see.

The goggles adn mask will protect you from untimely squirts. The corks can fill your ears if the noise starts to hurt.

Rubber gloves and tongs will assist you of disposing of junior's gift. Wipes and powder will help, if you still get a wiff.

Practice makes perfect, so keep trying eacch day. To do Daddy's duty in your own special way."

Here are some other photos from the shower.

Cousin Ann and her baby Bump - she's due about a month after Betsy

10 Weeks and Counting.....

We can't believe it. Where have the have the last 30 weeks gone? It seems like just yesterday we were headed to the doctor's office to confirm we were "with child."

2 weeks ago we had our 28-week appointment and all is going well. Betsy's baby bump is definitely growing and she's starting to get a bit uncomfortable doing certain activities. But, luckily, once she gets comfortable in bed, she sleeps most of the night!

Here are a couple of pictures of the growing baby.

Our Doctor

In case you'd like to see what our doctor looks like - here you go. Her name is Dr. Ridnour. Betsy's been seeing Dr. Ridnour since she moved to Colorado Springs in 2001. So far we've been very happy with her. We think she was a little weirded out when we asked to take a picture with her at our last visit.

We're now on week 27 and can't believe we're almost in the final leg of this adventure. Our next doctor's appointment in the first week of August. At the next few appointments, we're meeting some of the other doctor's who work with Dr. Ridnour, in case we happen to go into labor and she's not available, we will have at least met the doctor who may be on call.
